The news uses all kinds of crazy “clickbait” now a days to make people want to read their articles and things. These pieces take the truth and sorta stretch it so that it seems more interesting then it actually is and thus making people want to read more. It started way back in the 1900s and was called Yellow Journalism. These cartoons and articles aren't bad all the time, for example it engages the United states public more and can improve people's thoughts on wars and things such as that. William Randolph Hearst was among apart of the events of Yellow Journalism, with his cartoon “Yellow Kid.” The use of these fake headlines created competition for the space in news paper forcing the truth to get farther and farther away. Stories were often made out to be way more dramatic and crazy then they actually were in the hopes that more people would like to read them. Yellow Journalism hasn't stopped today, but has gained a new name, Fake News. We see this all over the place about our current president and also past ones, like in the image about that says “Obama's Gay Scandal.” These crazy and stretched truths only give the journalism worlds much less credibility and destroy our opportunities for truth to be spread effectively through The US.
